Tanks in Gibraltar during WW2

This photograph was published in the After the Battle magazine. The issue was number 21 and relates to Gibraltar completely. Since then I have found out through various sources mainly my brother Ian who is an avid Gibraltar Military Historian,  that these tanks where stationed in Gibraltar during WW2.Apparently military records show that a full squadron of 15 tanks was available together with it's corresponding personnel. Some time later during WW2 these tanks where replaced by Sherman tanks.

Gibraltar and it's Military History

A lot has changed in Gibraltar through recent times, once strategically important to the military (though people argue it still is ), now a Finance Centre and a busy tourist location . But it's military history is still embedded in its streets ,walls, fortifications ,gun emplacements, tunnels etc .As a British Gibraltarian I would not like the latter to disappear as this is part of our heritage .
